At the law office of George L. Court room litigation can be very expensive and time consuming, and full of risk and uncertainty. Consequently, before filing any lawsuit, I spend time being very careful to thoroughly review the case with the client and evaluate whether pursuing litigation makes sense from a legal, practical and economic standpoint. Every case has strengths and weaknesses — there is no such thing as the “perfect case.” My substantial experience enables me to properly evaluate a case’s trial potential and to properly advise my clients accordingly. I can and will try any case in state court, but sometimes it is in the client’s personal and financial best interest to pursue a form alternative dispute resolution (such as arbitration and mediation) which may be more cost and time effective than conventional trial court litigation.

I represent clients in all types of matters including felonies, misdemeanors, and traffic violations. This includes such offenses as murder, robbery, drug offenses, assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, and driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) charges. I have extensive trial experience in Oregon state courts both as a prosecutor and as a defense attorney and will work with you to protect your rights and help you understand the law and your options.

My twenty-three plus years of legal experience has enabled me to serve as an arbitrator and mediator in a variety of cases. I have arbitrated and mediated a variety of civil matters including personal injury, domestic relations, contract and real estate matters.

I represent clients in divorce and legal separation proceedings, annulments, child custody matters, including modification and enforcement of parenting time proceedings, Family Abuse Prevention Act and Stalking Restraining Orders and Contempt matters and psychological parent and grandparent custody or visitation cases.
